There are two toilet and shower block on site, one situated in the main building, servicing the hard standing pitches and one situated in camping field. Each block is modern and has constant hot water and includes toilets, showers, laundry room, ice block freezer, family shower room & undercover washing up.
We pride ourselves in keeping the facilities as clean as possible, with them being cleaned at least two times a day.
The toilet/shower block at the main building will be closed 11.30am until 12.30pm for cleaning.
Situated in the main building our reception and shop is open 9am – 4pm Monday to Saturdays, 9am – 2pm on Sundays. During busy times opening hours will be longer.
You can visit our reception with any questions you have regarding your visit or just to say hello!!! Our small shop sells many of your essentials, milk, bread, a basic selection of food and toiletries, so if you have forgotten your toothbrush just pop in. We also have plenty of sweet treats, ice creams and cold drinks as well as a coffee machine.
To help you set up camp we also have a small selection of camping equipment such as pegs, toilet chemicals, water pipes and connectors and electric cables. We also stock Calor Gas, (cylinders for exchange only).
Situated at the front of the main building we have an Information Room, with plenty of leaflets for activities in the local area, campsite information and a book and DVD library.
We love our dogs at Hill Cottage Farm and they are more than welcome to spend your holiday here with you. We have a 20 minute dog walk around our fields, perfect for exercising your pets.
Please remember that we are a working farm and for the safety of our livestock and in respect to all other campers, all dogs should be on a lead at all times on the campsite including on your pitch and on the dog walk. If your dog needs to stretch their legs a little more, there is a little gate into the neighbouring woodland where they can be let off the lead.
To ensure your safety and that of your property, we have a number of CCTV cameras around the site, which are continually monitored by our staff. We also have APNR barriers, so that only vehicles which should be on site can get onto the site, night and day.
In 2024 we invested in each pitch being equipped with a smart meter for it’s electricity supply. We lowered the price of the pitch, and now with this much fairer system you only pay for the electricity you use, and if you chose not to connect to the EHU they you are not paying for something you are not using. When logged onto the ePitch website you can monitor your consumption and top up your funds. It is a great tool to make us more aware of the electricity we use and avoid energy wastage.
Hill Cottage Farm is the ideal destination for family camping in Dorset. Our on-site children’s play area is ideal for younger children and ensures that the little ones are entertained, while the surrounding area offers numerous activities and attractions for all ages. From nature trails to local historical sites, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
During our 2026 season we are delighted to offer 3 small lakes. The first lake on the right hand side is left natural. With no fish in this lake, it is left for the ducks as a nature habitat. Further up we have two other lakes, both are stocked with carp & roach. With some reaching 14lb.
Directions:
Head towards the play area, where you will see the entrance to the dog walk.
Once at the entrance to the dog walk, turn right and keep walking until you see the lakes on your right.
-You MUST have a fishing license to be able to fish our lakes. We also ask that you use barbless hooks, a landing net and one rod per person when fishing.
-Please DO NOT swim in the lakes and night fishing isn’t permitted.
-The best bait to use is sweetcorn or luncheon meat, as the fish love it.
You can buy both these in our onsite shop. We do not sell any fishing equipment, so you will have to bring your own or buy from one of our local tackle shops.
-We offer relaxed family friendly fishing, so it may get busy during school holidays and weekends.
Our local tackle shop is in Ringwood, which is around a 30 minute drive from our site.
We are very lucky to host the independently run Thai Kitchen Takeaway, who also have a restaurant at Hill Cottage Farm.
Hill Cottage Farm is also very lucky to host the independently run Caravan Workshop. So if you have issues with your van whilst on site, or want to pre book a service or repairs during your stay, we are ideally located to make this a stress free as possible.
Hill Cottage Farm is located with a short 20 minute walk through woodland to the village of Alderholt. Here you will find our local pub, The Churchill Arms and a Co op for extra supplies.
